On 15-19 January 2024, the NATO ENSEC COE organized the Deployed Camp Energy Metering & Planning Course at the NATO ENSEC COE headquarters in Vilnius and at the modular military camp “Jonas” in Kazlų Rūda, attended by representatives of the NATO ENSEC COE, the UK Ministry of Defence’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory and the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The main objectives of the course were to provide an overview of the latest version (Generation 2) of the NATO energy monitoring system, to implement the hands-on training deploying system, to provide an overview and demonstration of the deployment camp energy simulation tool and energy data analysis tool, etc.
As part of the NATO ENSEC COE project of the NATO Operational Energy Concept development, the Centre has rented several smart camp meters for measuring the camp’s energy consumption from NATURAL RESOURCE CANADA with funding from NATO ACT HQ. The lease contract includes the training of NATO ENSEC COE personnel by NATURAL RESOURCES CANADA. The camp meters were developed under the NATO Science for Peace and Security G5255 camp Energy efficiency project and tested during NATO exercises such as Capable Logistician 19 (CL19) and Steadfast Jupiter 2023 (ST23).
