1. TASKS
1.1. Area of expertise preferred:
Energy Engineering, Energy Efficiency, Energy Innovations.
1.2. The fellow will be expected to work on the following:
In coordination with the supervisor, to prepare a study to investigate how to optimize the sustainability and energy efficiency of the special railway vehicles and equipment supplied to the Italian Engineering Railway Regiment in order to reduce energy consumption. The study should make proposals for the future acquisition of newly developed special railway vehicles/equipment in order to increase the level of interoperability linked to the use of new technologies.
1.3. The fellow will be expected to reach the following deliverables:
Study on the Energy Efficiency of Railway Engineer Regiment equipment.
2. Type of background/education preferred:
- Engineering educational background required (examples of possible educational backgrounds are given below, but there may be others that would allow fellow to prepare the Study properly): Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Railway Engineering; Sustainable Energy Engineering; Industrial Engineering; Transport Systems and Railway Engineering; etc.
- Practical Experience or Research in Relevant Areas:
- Experience in Railway Engineering or Military Engineering: prior experience with railway equipment or working in military engineering contexts will be valuable for understanding unique equipment requirements and operational constraints;
- Research in Energy Efficiency: previous research work on energy-efficient technologies, either academically or professionally, would be advantageous;
- The scientific expertise and the quality of the scientific publications would be an advantage.
- Research and analysis skills.
- Applications for the fellowship should be supported by the university or related institution of the candidate.
- Excellent English writing and speaking skills (C1-C2).
- Excellent computer user skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Availability of the NATO Security Clearance (at least NATO RESTRICTED).
- A national of a NATO member country.
